Three Ways to Prepare for Labour & Life with a Newborn Baby

Preparing yourself & your home for the arrival of your brand new little one is a great way to ease your mind ahead of labour.

These are our top 5 tips to help you feel as ready as possible.

1) Stock up on Supplies

Embrace those natural nesting instincts & stock up on EVERYTHING.

Batch cooking some easy freezer meals is a great idea, as well as kitting out your pantry.

From pasta & rice to cans, tins & jars… even lightbulbs, laundry supplies & loo roll!

And if you’re planning to breastfeed, it’s a great idea to have some nursing clothes ready to go.

2) Pack Your Hospital Bag

Obvious, but essential.

Getting your hospital bag packed & ready to go a few weeks before your due date is a great way to prepare.

It will help things run smoothly on the day, and knowing that it’s ready is sure to ease your mind as you wait.

3) Book an Antenatal Course

Antenatal courses are specifically designed to guide you through pregnancy, birth & the basics of how to care for your newborn.

If you are based in the UK, NCT courses are a fantastic option – they offer expert advice as well as introducing you to a ready-made network of local parents with babies due around the same time as yours.

4) Buy & Install a Car Seat

This one is a quick win.

If you plan to give birth at a hospital or birth centre, a properly installed car seat is a non-negotiable.

It’s a great idea to get it set up well before baby arrives, when you can take your time.

That way you avoid a last minute panic in the hospital car park!

5) Seek out Positive Birth Stories

For every birth horror story out there, there will also be a positive, empowering one.

If you are feeling anxious about labour, these are the ones to look out for. Never underestimate the power of positivity to help you feel prepared.

Wishing you all the best for the exciting journey ahead mamas!
