Can you believe we’re already in mid-may? The summer event season is about to begin! Now is the time to dust off your picnic basket and start browsing summer styles ready for sunny days out and brand new outfits! It can be tricky to navigate the different styles and dress codes, not to mention the unpredictable Great British weather, so we’ve put together some quick styling tips for some of the most exciting upcoming summer events.
Read on for styling tips and your chance to win tickets to this year’s Polo in the Park!
RHS Chelsea Flower Show
The Chelsea Flower Show is in full bloom all this week, and it would surely be a crime not to wear a fabulously floral summer dress! This is of course an outdoor event, so it’s important to dress for the changeable weather (sunglasses and umbrellas at the ready) and we’d suggest a light jacket – our Maternity Trench Coat is ideal! It’s also a good idea to opt for comfortable flat shoes like our ShoeTherapy pumps – you don’t want your brand new heels sinking in the grass! Here are some of our favourite floral maternity dresses:
Cherry Blossom Silk Chiffon Maternity Dress
Silk Printed Maternity Maxi Dress
Rose pink Lace Maternity Cocktail Dress
Royal Ascot
The high society fashion highlight of the summer, Royal Ascot kicks off next month and if you have a ticket, this is the time to dress to impress! If you are lucky enough to be in the Royal Enclosure or the Grandstand, it’s all about formal day wear. According to the dress code your hemline should be just above the knee or longer, your straps must be at least an inch thick, and who could forget the most important accessory of the year – a show stopping Ascot hat! (Check out exclusive boutique Lizzie’s Hats for a little millinery inspiration). Here are a few luxe maternity dresses that would be perfect for a stylish day at the races:
Royal Blue Lace Maternity Cocktail Dress
Petrol Blue Silk Chiffon Maternity Dress
Dove Grey Multiway Maternity Dress
Glyndebourne
A regular fixture in any opera lover’s summer season, The Glyndebourne Festival in East Sussex opened at the weekend and will continue throughout the summer. The dress code isn’t compulsory, but most people don their most glamorous evening wear out of respect for the performers. And who would pass up the opportunity to wear a stunning full length evening gown for a night at the opera and a summer picnic on the lawn! The event lasts all afternoon and well into the evening, so it’s a good idea to have a smart jacket or cover up to drape over your shoulders when the sun goes down. Here are a few of our most glamorous maternity evening gowns:
Petrol Blue Multiway Maternity Maxi Dress
Emerald Silk Multiway Maternity Evening Gown
Mulberry Silk Multiway Maternity Evening Gown
