Hello! Magazine and Glamour.com editors sparkle in Seraphine!

Two of the most glamorous women in fashion and lifestyle journalism sparkled in Seraphine at the British Society of Magazine Editors Awards this week!

The ceremony was held in the opulent Grand Ballroom at the London Hilton Hotel, and naturally the luxurious surroundings and glitzy occasion called for a pair of very glamorous maternity cocktail dresses!

Here at Seraphine, we stock a wide range of maternity dresses, from simple shift day dresses, through to lavish maternity cocktail dresses and evening gowns in our LUXE collection.

Glamourmagazine.com editor Natasha McNamara was nominated for the Consumer Web Editor of the Year Award, and looked stunning in our Black Lace and Sapphire Maternity Cocktail Dress.

The glamorous maternity cocktail dress (pictured left) is made with exquisite black stretch lace, laid over a vibrant sapphire blue dress in silky soft stretch jersey, and tied at the empire line with a black sash in pure silk. Natasha styled the striking maternity dress perfectly with some black maternity tights and a pair of simple gold pendants.

Hello! Magazine editor Rosie Nixon (who has guest blogged for us in the past) was nominated for the Women’s Brand of the Year Award, looked incredibly chic in our edgy Navy Shoulder Lace Maternity Shift Dress.

This flattering navy shift dress is stylishly ruched at the sides, and swathes the shoulders in intricate floral black lace to achieve a stunning contrast.

This gorgeous navy blue maternity cocktail dress was a great choice for Rosie, as it worked so well with her skin tone and glossy blonde hair.

Seraphine designer Cecile shares her favourite autumn maternity styles

Seraphine founder and designer, Cecile Reinaud has delved into her own stylish wardrobe to share with us a few of her maternity favourites that will look sensational throughout your pregnancy and for years afterwards!

As well as being perfect for your pregnancy, these stylish separates and accessories are fantastic for mixing and matching with your regular clothes after pregnancy!

These are all styles that Cecile has in her own personal wardrobe, and still loves to wear even now that she is not pregnant.

See below for Cecile’s styling tips!

Cecile's autumn maternity picks

Cecile’s tips clockwise from top left:

Blouse Side Pleat Woven Maternity Blouse

I love the lace details at the neckline, and you can adjust the fit with the side ties, so it looks just as great now as it did when I was pregnant!

Coat – Navy Wool and Cashmere Short Maternity Coat

The shape of this coat is very Parisian chic – the perfect winter cover up.

Jacket Ivory Cropped Peplum Maternity Jacket

So stylish – this jacket looks great whether you pair it with a little black dress, or your favourite skinny jeans.

Bag Navy Seraphine Tote Changing Bag

A must have for any mums – I use mine all the time.

Shoes Quilted Ballerina Pumps

These are so comfortable and elegant too – who doesn’t love a quilted style!

Belt Double Wrap Skinny Waist Belt

The right accessories can really lift your outfit and this great little belt is so chic

Skirt – Black Knitted Maternity Skirt

I love this skirt because you can wear it at whatever length suits you. Wear it over your bump or under the bump for your comfortable fit!

Prince George’s christening has us thinking maternity occasion wear!

It was lovely to see the royals and the Middletons presenting a united fashion front yesterday for the christening of gorgeous little Prince George! The official group christening photograph is a serene and happy scene in cream and blue – perfect for a little boy.

The Duchess of Cambridge, her sister Pippa Middleton, and mother-in-law the Duchess of Cornwall all looked stunning in pristine cream ensembles with matching fascinator hats.

The proud mother of little George looked radiant as ever in a ruffled cream Alexander McQueen dress suit.

Zara phillips

The Queen, Carole Middleton and Godmother Zara Phillips headed up team blue. The Queen wore a classic sky blue cashmere coat, while Carole Middleton wore a beautiful navy dress coat with slimming lace patterned panels.

We have to admit, while we loved seeing the pictures of gorgeous little Prince George and his parents, as a maternity fashion brand, we couldn’t wait to see what 6 month pregnant Godmother Zara Phillips would be wearing, and she certainly didn’t disappoint!

Zara simply glowed in a chic navy blue maternity ensemble by Stewart Parvin. The elegant blue shift dress finished just above the knee, and the matching navy dress coat (which looks remarkably similar to our own Seraphine Navy Wool and Cashmere Luxe Maternity Coat) skimmed her curves perfectly for a flattering maternity look.

Attending special events like family christenings or friends’ weddings always calls for an extra special outfit. But when you’re pregnant, finding beautiful maternity clothes to suit the occasion as well as your growing pregnancy curves can sometimes be a challenge.

Navy Wool and Cashmere Luxe Maternity Coat

Enter the LUXE Collection.

Our LUXE maternity occasion wear collection includes exquisite maternity gowns and cocktail dresses, all carefully crafted in the finest silks and French lace.

This luxury Seraphine maternity line has been specifically developed with all of your special events, occasions and parties in mind. If we had been invited to Little George’s christening (we wish) we would have had the perfect maternity occasion wear outfit ready to match the blue and cream colour scheme.

We would have chosen our Navy Silk and Lace Special Occasion Maternity Dress (picture above right) which ties at the back with pure silk ribbons to define your shape, and we would team it with our Navy Wool and Cashmere Luxe Maternity Coat (picure right), with a pair of our sheer nude maternity tights and some chic nude heels to finish the look.

We are carrying this fabulous sixties inspired trend through to the autumn with our Knitted Maternity Mini Dresses in red and navy blue.

Why not add a flash of colour to your maternity outfit with a funky pair of coloured Maternity Tights in navy or violet?

Knitted Houndstooth Maternity Skirt3) Houndstooth Print

As we mentioned, the classic houndstooth print is enjoying a massive revival this season, and is appearing in every conceivable colour, size and style!

Our Top Three Autumn Fashion Trends For Pregnancy

Foggy mornings, leaves starting to turn golden, and the beginnings of a chilly snap in the air – yep, autumn is most definitely here and we are so excited to start experimenting with all the new maternity autumn fashion trends! We don’t know about you, but we have all been busy over the past few weeks, digging out our jeans, jumpers, ankle boots and scarves. After such a long, hot summer, it feels fantastically refreshing to start embracing all the new opportunities for accessorising that the colder weather brings with it!

But which maternity wear trends should you be tapping into this autumn, and how can you make them work for your blossoming pregnancy curves?

We have scoured the fashion pages, and put what we’ve found together with our own maternity fashion expertise to come up with our top three autumn fashion trends to try out this year and how you can make them work for your changing body!

Monochrome1)     Layer up your monochrome prints

Monochrome was big this summer and it’s going to be even bigger through autumn and winter! This season, it’s all about creating a luxe layered up look, by using contrasting patterns and textures.

Why not pair our Houndstooth Knitted Maternity Skirt with black maternity tights and our silky soft Black Draped Nursing Top, and finish the look with our chunky knit Black Maternity Coatigan.

Or you could try our sleek Leather Panel Maternity Leggings with our White Empire Line Maternity Shirt and our gorgeous Houndstooth Wool Maternity Coat.

Not only does this fabulous autumn fashion trend look fantastic, but textured layers can be a great way to disguise a blossoming bump in the early stages of your pregnancy, before you’re sharing your wonderful news with the world!

Subtle Sparkle2) Subtle Sparkle

We all love a bit of bling every now and then, but this season it’s all about choosing sparkle that shimmers rather than shouts. Elegant, understated pieces with a subtly glitzy side to them are perfect for the winter party season.
Or you could add a touch of sparkle to your favourite maternity dress by adding a sequinned belt around your empire line, or a pair of sparkly shoes. This is a fantastic autumn trend for pregnancy, as a little sparkle always looks special no matter what shape or size you are!

High Flying Business Women in Seraphine Maternity Styles

If you are a regular reader of our Seraphine blog, you’ll know that we love to see our fabulous maternity styles on expectant celebrity mums. But just recently we’ve started to notice some of our favourite maternity dresses on some very high flying business women!

A couple of weeks ago the lovely Nicola Rees wore our gorgeous Teal Knot Front Printed Maternity Dress on TV, on the BBC Local programme: Inside Out Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. The busy blossom pattern looked fabulous on screen and the rich blue colour made Nicola’s radiant pregnancy glow really stand out.

Screen Shot 2013-09-16 at 13.55.27Then over the weekend we were so excited to see Business Minister Jo Swinson giving a speech at the Lib Dem conference, wearing our gorgeous Turquoise Colour Block Maternity Dress! Jo, who is expecting her first child with fellow Lib Dem MP Duncan Hames commanded the room in our on trend colour block maternity dress, and looked confident and feminine on the stage.

Our versatile maternity styles are designed to look smart and feel fantastic for all day comfort, which makes them ideal for a full day at work. We are so pleased to see our fabulous maternity dresses being put through their paces by some real career women doing what they do best – and of course these examples are only the ones that get on TV! We are sure that there are high flying mums-to-be rocking Seraphine maternity styles in offices and boardrooms all around the country.

Do you wear Seraphine to work? Leave us a comment and let us know which styles work best at the office.

The right maternity jeans – shop with confidence

A good pair of maternity jeans will take you right through pregnancy and beyond in style and comfort. Everyone has a special pair of jeans that they always look great in – whether it’s the cut, the colour or both, you can rely on them not to let you down. If you’re anything like us though, you probably just love jeans in general – they can be dressed up to the nines, dressed down for casual days around the house and will go with just about everything, making it an absolute breeze to put an outfit together. And no matter what you might have heard, denim is your perfect partner during pregnancy. As long as you buy maternity jeans specially designed for a body with a bump, you will find yourself going back to them time and time again for all kinds of occasions.

This is where lots of women fall down – they simply buy bigger versions of their ordinary jeans, find they won’t fit in any of the right places and then assume jeans aren’t quite right as maternity clothes. Actually, you should wear your normal size but with a few adaptations, such as an expandable tummy section so your denims grow with you but don’t swamp you. Seraphine’s jeans have won rave reviews and have also been worn by a host of famous faces, so we know a thing or two about designing them with pregnancy in mind – read our brief round-up below and we’ll share the inside info with you.

Maternity jeans – what you need to know

When it comes to maternity denim, you have a choice about where on your body you want them to sit. There are those that cover your bump and stretch as it grows, or those that sit under your abdomen if you don’t want too much of a departure from your usual style. It’s personal preference really, so try both and see which you like – you may find under-bump jeans are best in the early stages when you haven’t got much of a tummy yet. Do be prepared to spend a little more on your new jeans than you would on ordinary fashion styles, as you will wear them so frequently they’ll be worth every penny.

angelina_4Which will be your favourite style?

  • Skinny

We love our skinny maternity jeans, as they look bang on-trend but are also unbelievably comfortable. Jessica Alba went for our grey ones when she was pregnant, but there is also black and classic blue to choose from.

  • Bootcut

If you only want to buy one pair of maternity jeans, we’d recommend one of our bootcut styles no matter what your body shape is like. They’re so flattering that they look as good as designer jeans, plus they will go with everything.

  • Coloured

We fell in love with colourful jeans a couple of seasons ago and the trend has proved so popular that it just keeps coming back. New for this season, we have coloured maternity denim in cobalt bluecoral and sea mist on top of classics like black, so you have plenty of choice. Wear them with a black top for a really dramatic pop of brightness this summer.

  • Cropped

Don a pair of cropped jeans and you’ll instantly feel like summer’s back, even if it’s grey outside. Our white style looks fantastic with navy, but you can also pair them with a flowery tunic for a relaxed holiday look. Did we mention we have some great shorts too?

Give Seraphine’s amazing maternity jeans in any style a try and you’ll never look back!
