Baby’s First Halloween: Frights & Fun for all the Family

It’s that time of year again mamas – The evenings are getting darker, there’s an eerie chill in the air, and there’s something strange in your neighbourhood – time to call Ghostbusters – Halloween is here! If you’re after some fun things to do with the little ones over this spooky holiday, we’re here to help! We’ve gathered the best ideas and inspiration from around the web to help you and your little monsters have fun and frights this Halloween!

 To decorate

With little ones around it may be an idea to save the really creepy, gruesome décor for when they’re a little older. But there’s still plenty of fun to be had! You and the kids could try your hand at decorating ‘no-carve pumpkins’ from Misi UK. Or take them out for a nature walk to collect leaves, then make these gorgeous autumn leaves lanterns that we found on RedTedArt.

To do

If your monster is just a bit too little for trick or treating, why not bring Halloween to your home and throw a baby Halloween party! Liska from the Adventure in a Box blog has some great ideas for fun activities. And we can’t get enough of this DIY gooey Halloween slime for sensory play (this would be a big hit with the older kids too!)

To eat

Sweet treats at Halloween are pretty much a given, so we love these fun, healthy Halloween snacks from Samantha at the Crafty Texas Girls blog. And if you are looking for something sweet to snack on – check out Katie’s Monster Marshmallow Pops on her blog Made to Be a Momma.

To dress your baby

Your baby monsters may be too young for trick or treating, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun dressing them up & answering the door! Baby Harry Potter, 80’s aerobics instructor, the monopoly man, a taco?!?! Just a few of our favourites from Brit.co’s selection of baby costume ideas!

And for your toddler monsters, we love this idea from viral YouTube sensation Glowy Zoey!

To dress your bump

And if you’re heading out to a Halloween party of your own, we found some great DIY costume ideas for dressing your bump on Brit.co. And if your party calls for an outfit that’s more chic than Halloween freak, you could always opt for a sexy little black maternity dress with a cute witch’s hat or cat ears. We think our Striped Baby Doll Maternity Dress or the Sheer Polka Dot Sleeve Maternity Dress would be perfect!

And if this post wasn’t inspiring enough (or if you just want to see more cute pictures of babies in costumes), check out our Halloween Pinterest board now!

The Seraphine Maternity Jacket Loved by the Swedish Princesses

Meet our Cropped Peplum Maternity Jacket; the favourite style of the Swedish Princesses!

Over the weekend, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden rounded up her official visit to Peru and Colombia with a trip to the Colombian Gold Museum in Bogotá, wearing our Cropped Ivory Peplum Maternity Jacket! She paired it with a monochrome maternity dress, a stylish clutch and classic pearl earrings – the perfect look for a day of official royal duties.

And Victoria isn’t the only Princess to fall for this stylish little maternity jacket. Earlier this year her younger sister Princess Madeleine of Sweden wore the Cropped Black Peplum Maternity Jacket for her audience with The Pope in Rome! The smart jacket paired perfectly with her black lace dress and veil, completing the stylishly demure outfit.

Princess Victoria has loved wearing her new Seraphine maternity clothes throughout her trip to Peru and Colombia. She looked stunning in a bespoke red maternity dress to meet the Peruvian President, and debuted our Cornflower Blue Silk and Lace Maternity Dress – which will be available for purchase from our LUXE Collection early next year – at a reception with the Mayor of Cartagena in Colombia. She even re-wore the purple bespoke Seraphine outfit that she had worn to her Nephew Prince Nicolas’ Christening, to meet the President of Colombia.

Zoe Saldana’s Seraphine Style: Casual Chic to Hollywood Glam

After appearing in a stunning lacey Seraphine dress on The Late Late Show last week (scroll down to see the video), the gorgeous Zoe Saldana has been spotted over the weekend, looking fantastic in a Seraphine maternity skirt! Whether she’s dressed up to the nines, or styled for a casual day out, we can’t get enough of the Avatar star’s maternity style at the moment!

Out with a friend in West Hollywood on Sunday, Zoe rocked our Colour Block Knitted Maternity Skirt, styling it casually with a plain black maternity top, sunglasses, an edgy leopard print bag and a cute pair of ballet pumps.

The stylish body-con skirt Zoe wore worked perfectly to contour her changing curves; made in an ultra soft black knit and featuring a contrasting front panel in navy blue, the design optically slimmed her silhouette. The entire ensemble looked cool and comfy – perfect for a casual day out around town.

We love Zoe’s laid back look, but our favourite style has got to be when she wore our Black Lace Maternity Cocktail Dress for her appearance on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and looked simply stunning. Much more than just a laid back lady – Zoe has mastered maternity glam!

And this isn’t the first time Zoe has favoured Seraphine… Earlier this month, she was spotted looking fabulous in our Cream Ruched Maternity Crossover Top, enjoying a romantic mini break with husband Marco Perego to Palm Springs in California. She styled this look with a pair of cute cropped leggings, studded sandals and a statement cherry red handbag.

Zoe and her Italian artist husband Marco are expecting twin boys towards the end of this year – and with just 2 months of her pregnancy to go; Zoe’s maternity style seems to be reaching ever more stylish heights!

This time she chose our Ink Side Ruched Maternity Dress with faux wrap detailing, which flattered her bump perfectly.

Of course Charlotte isn’t the only stylish lady on ITV who loves Seraphine: This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby is a huge fan of Seraphine maternity dresses, and wore several, including the Turquoise Knot Front Maternity Dress and the Blue Colour Block Maternity Dress while she was expecting baby number 3, Chester.

Hopping back across the Atlantic to the States, national US entertainment news show, Access Hollywood have featured no less than 6 of our fabulous maternity dresses, while expectant TV hosts across the country from Sacramento to Minnesota have styled their bumps in Seraphine on camera.

Keeping up with Kourtney Kardashian’s Maternity Style in Seraphine

We’ve always loved Kourtney Kardashian’s flawless maternity style, so we were thrilled to see her rocking a Seraphine maternity dress this week!

Over the weekend the reality TV star styled it out in our Black Bodycon Maternity Dress on her way back from the Bob Hope airport with partner Scott Disick. The couple had been making a flying visit to Vegas to meet up with Bruce & Brody Jenner, and to film scenes for ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’.

As the Eldest and arguably most stylish of the Kardashian sisters; petite socialite Kourtney is photographed everywhere she goes, so her style has to be polished at all times! We think she did a great job with this look, styling the glamorous bodycon maternity dress with a grey chambray denim shirt, a black felt hat, black suede boots, sunglasses and a single gold bangle. The outfit was ultra chic, and comfy for the flight – an important consideration for any jet-setting mum-to-be.

Kourtney Kardashian in Seraphine

Kourtney and her partner Scott are already parents to 4 year old son Mason and 2 year old daughter Penelope, and are reportedly expecting their new addition – another little girl – some time next month!

As a third-time mum, Kourtney has had plenty of time to master her maternity style, and she seems to nail it again and again! She’s never afraid to experiment, and looks equally fabulous in fitted bodycon styles and in flowing maxi dresses. To keep following her style, check out Kourtney’s site – KourtneyKardashian.com.

We love your look Kourtney – keep up the good work!

Heart Radio’s Charlie O’Brien on pregnancy, proposals & little treats

Charlie O’Brien is a radio presenter for Heart and gets up at 3.45am to host a breakfast show. She is also a lifestyle and popular culture blogger and runs her own blog realgirlramblings.com. Charlie is expecting her first baby with fiancé – radio and TV presenter Jk (Jason King) who also works for Heart. They live in South East London with their very lazy lab, Isla.

I’m discovering that looking good in pregnancy DOESN’T necessarily come easily. I had ridiculous, misguided illusions of being all glowing-looking for 9 months with thick glossy hair and a cute little bump that would just magically appear at 12 weeks. A bit like the lady on my pregnancy vitamins packet?! Wrong! From being a small size 8, I felt bloated and lumpy literally from Day 1. I’ve also been ridiculously tired, a big part of which I put down to getting up before 4am five days a week to host a radio show. Under-eye concealer has become my best friend. I did also have a tricky start to my pregnancy and had to be on a lot of medication, which added to the general feelings of grottiness.

Add to that the bizarre changes in my skin (adult acne anyone?) and the tough time finding things to wear, and I am probably the complete antithesis of the romantic preconception I had about pregnancy!

Charlie O'Brien in Seraphine

So at 21 weeks I’ve decided to take the bull by the horns and do something about it. I’ve booked in for a facial this week and next weekend I’m off for a delicious spa break with the girls. I was also quite literally over the moon to stumble across Seraphine whilst googling ‘nice maternity clothes’! I’m so excited to try some of the dresses, so I don’t have to be in the same one pair of maternity jeans for the next 4 months! When you work on the radio, you can literally wear your pyjamas to work if you want, it’s not very glam. But I think every woman wants to look her best from time to time, especially during this very magical, but sometimes tough time.

Life has actually been a bit of a rollercoaster recently because as well as expecting our first child together, my partner Jk also proposed to me last week! We were on a cliff top in Cornwall so I was wearing trainers and a hoodie at the time! But we’re going to go for some posh cocktails (non alcoholic for me of course) at the hotel where we had our first date, so I’m looking forward to dressing up for the first time in ages and feeling good about the way I look. Although I expect we’ll be home by 10pm in front of the TV with a hot chocolate …

I do think us ladies have a tendency to neglect our own needs a bit in pregnancy. We’re so focused on making sure baby has the right vitamins, we’re eating the right foods, and doing everything by the book that we forget about ourselves. So if you’re feeling the same as me – do something lovely for yourself. Book a manicure, order a pretty maternity dress or just have a bubble bath. After all, we might not have much spare time in a few months!

Charlie

Charlotte Hawkins Starts the Week in Style in a Stunning Seraphine Dress

Did you spot the Seraphine dress on Good Morning Britain this week? The gorgeous Charlotte Hawkins started the week in style on Monday morning, presenting the ITV breakfast show in our Claret Red Knot Front Maternity Dress!

The dress suited her perfectly, and the sassy red shade looked stunning next to her peachy complexion and blonde hair. She styled it simply with a single gold bangle and a classic pair of shoes for a polished professional look with a soft feminine vibe.

The dress itself is the winter incarnation of one of our all time best selling styles, which is already a huge hit among the ladies of TV land. Both This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby and media personality Claire Sweeney loved the Blue Knot Front Maternity Dress this summer, and Charlotte’s red dress has appeared on US entertainment show Access Hollywood, so she is certainly in good company when it comes to her maternity fashion choices!

Claire Sweeney wears the Seraphine blue knotted maternity dress

Designed to flatter the curves at every stage of pregnancy and beyond; the knotted detailing at the empire line draws the eye to the slimmest part of the body, and creates flattering gathers of fabric which drape beautifully over a growing bump. We are sure that Charlotte, who is expecting her first child with husband Mark in February next year, will get plenty of wear out of this ultra versatile little red dress over the party season.

When it comes to style, Charlotte seems to have taken pregnancy in her stride so far. With all the glamorous layering and accessorising, winter is an exciting time to be expecting, and we can’t wait to see how she develops her look to suit her changing curves over the coming months.

A Royal Trend Setter – Meet our Most Coveted Maternity Evening Gown

Have you ever had a dress so  gorgeous that everyone wants to know where you got it? One that turns heads and attracts compliments everywhere you go? Well royal equestrian star Zara Phillips and Sky Sports Formula 1 presenter Natalie Pinkham have, and know all too well the power of a dazzling maternity evening gown!

Some of you may remember that around about this time last year, Zara – expecting baby Mia Grace at the time – looked stunning in our Colour Block Silk Maxi Gown at the Boodles Boxing Ball. What you may not remember however is that at the event, she was pictured looking lovely with her close friend Natalie.

Zara Phillips in Seraphine

And apparently Zara’s dress made a big impression on her friend, as last week, over a year later; Natalie was spotted wearing the very same Seraphine style!

Natalie wore the stunning blue maternity evening gown from the Seraphine Luxe Collection to a charity dinner held at Kensington Palace for children’s health charity Sparks, and looked utterly gorgeous.

Natalie Pinkham in a Seraphine Luxe Gown

It’s easy to see why stylish mums-to-be can’t get enough of this beautiful maternity evening gown. It is made in luxurious stretch silk and inspired by traditional oriental design, with origami pleats at the front and short kimono style sleeves. The striking colour block style in ultra marine and azure blue flatters every skin tone, and the silk sash ties can be secured at the front or back to highlight the empire waist line, making the most of your blossoming pregnancy curves.

They say that imitation is the highest form of flattery, so we’re sure these lovely ladies wouldn’t mind us taking a little style inspiration from their looks – after all, a gown this gorgeous is simply too good not to share!
