Over the weekend the Princess, currently expecting her third baby, attended the prestigious Nobel Prize award ceremony in Stockholm, wearing a bespoke Seraphine maternity gown.

The spectacular one of a kind gown in mauve silk and hand-beaded gold lace was made to measure in London by our team of talented in-house tailors, and the Princess simply glowed in it.

Of course this isn’t the first time that Princess Madeleine has opted for a bespoke Seraphine outfit. Back when she was expecting Prince Nicolas she chose a pristine ivory Seraphine outfit for the Lysning of her older brother Prince Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist.

The princess looked incredibly glamorous in a champagne lace maternity cocktail dress from our LUXE collection, which she styled with a bespoke ivory maternity coat also by Seraphine, finishing off the outfit with a pair of nude heels and a statement designer hat.

3 generations of Swedish royals were in attendance at the joyful family occasion, including Madeleine’s parents King Carl XVI Gustav & Queen Silvia, as well as her 1 year old daughter Leonore, who was dressed in an adorable matching ivory outfit with a fabulous pair of gold shoes.

Princess Madeleine wore Seraphine maternity clothes on several other occasions throughout her second pregnancy – she loved our LUXE outerwear collection. She chose our Blush Wool & Cashmere Maternity Coat for her father, the King’s official birthday celebrations at the Royal Palace in Stockholm, and opted for our Cropped Peplum Maternity Jacket to meet the Pope.

Holly Branson Rocks Seraphine Style at the Fast Track 100 Party!

This week, Seraphine founder Cecile Reinaud attended Richard Branson’s Fast Track 100 party, and was honoured to meet Richard’s daughter Holly Branson, who just happened to be wearing her favourite pair of Seraphine maternity leggings!

Cecile accepted the coveted Fast Track 100 award on behalf of Seraphine, and later chatted to Holly, who paired our Faux Leather Panel Maternity Leggings with a stylish loose knit black jumper & pumps. Holly welcomed her adorable twins Etta & Artie in December last year, but you’d never guess from looking at her – she’s snapped back to her regular figure, and is looking fabulous as ever. Holly loved Seraphine through her pregnancy & it’s great to see that the new mum is still rocking her maternity clothes after the birth – she confessed to Cecile:

“I loved wearing Seraphine. There are some pieces I just can’t give up – these leggings are my absolute favourite. They’re so comfortable!”

Holly was the first Branson to fall in love with Seraphine; through pregnancy she wore our Black Roll Neck Knitted Maternity Jumper, and our Lamb’s Wool & Cashmere Leatherette Nursing Jumper. She also loved our Striped Maternity & Nursing Top, and looked fantastic in our Black Knitted Maternity Cape, styling out a gigantic set of virtual reality headgear!

Holly revealed to Cecile that Richard Branson is taking to his new role as granddad like a duck to water. The billionaire businessman behind the Virgin group was recently spotted taking the twins out for a stroll in their pram near his home in Notting Hill. And it’s just as well that he’s enjoying it, as not long after Etta & Artie arrived, Holly’s brother Sam & his wife Isabella welcomed their own bundle of joy, a little girl called Eva-Deia – It’s been a busy year for the Bransons!

We are so pleased to see that Holly is still styling out her Seraphine maternity clothes; 4 months on and she is looking incredibly glamorous!

Seraphine Maternity Clothes for A Royal Audience with the Pope!

This week we were honoured that Her Royal Highness Princess Madeleine of Sweden chose Seraphine maternity clothes for her audience with the Pope.

Including three generations of Swedish royals, the visit was a real family affair: The Princess travelled to the Vatican along with her mother Queen Silvia of Sweden, her husband American businessman Chris O’Neill, and their adorable 14 month old daughter Leonore.

Both Queen Silvia & Princess Madeleine wore traditional black, covering their heads with black lace veils to meet the Pope. Princess Madeleine opted for a classically glamorous look, styling her gorgeous lace dress with heels, pearls and our Cropped Peplum Maternity Jacket.

And this isn’t the first time Princess Madeleine has worn Seraphine maternity clothes – Madeleine, who is expecting her second baby in June, has been a fan of our lace maternity dresses throughout this pregnancy, and wore our Blush Wool & Cashmere Maternity Coat to the official celebrations for King Carl XVI Gustaf’s birthday at the royal palace in Stockholm.

As graceful & glamorous as her mother was, it was little Leonore who successfully charmed the head of the Catholic Church, dressed in a pretty cream dress with a fabulous pair of gold shoes – she clearly has her mother’s eye for style!

The Hottest Hair Trends for SS15 & Maternity Clothes to Match

Spring cleaning isn’t just about dusting the top shelves & turning the mattresses you know… Spring is the perfect time to spruce up your look with some gorgeous new season maternity clothes, some fresh new makeup styles & even a brand new do!

Here’s our roundup of the hottest new hair trends to try for SS15 and some fabulous maternity styles to match.

The Long Bob

The style sensation sweeping Hollywood right now is the long bob aka: “the lob”. Everyone from Jessica Alba to Nicole Kidman & Orange is the New Black star Taylor Schilling are opting for the chop this spring – and we are loving their new looks. The lob is a versatile style that puts your hair at a gorgeous shoulder length, which is easy, manageable & incredibly versatile. The Pixie Crop

Another hairstyle making waves this spring is the pixie cut. Actress & Model Lily Collins and international super model Tyra Banks both debuted sexy new pixie cuts this season, and while new mama & model Coco Rocha is currently sporting a stylish long bob, she has spent the past few years rocking a pixie cut. A short pixie crop is a super cute & sexy look which, when done right can look spectacular. Celebrate Your Curves – Maternity Clothes on Screen

The pregnant body is amazing – creative, life giving and utterly beautiful. It’s something to be celebrated with gorgeous maternity clothes, not covered up & hidden.

This week the chief weather presenter on US TV show Global BC News, Kristi Gordon spoke up about the hate mail she’s received through both of her pregnancies from people criticizing her maternity fashion choices.

Kristi explains the situation

Kristi is a successful, confident & beautiful woman, who dresses her bump in style… and we’re not the only ones who think so! Since she exposed the haters on air, support has been streaming in for Kristi, praising her bravery for speaking out & her beautiful baby bump – her twitter feed is crowded with encouraging messages from friends, strangers, fellow TV presenters and expectant mamas everywhere.

It’s not always easy dressing a bump at the best of times, but when your job is to appear live on TV every day, your style & choice of maternity clothes are put in the spotlight whether you want it or not. *Your Birth Plan: You’ll want a printed copy handy to give to your midwife.

*Comfy Maternity Nightwear: A soft button-down nightie is a must – it’s ideal for labour as well as skin to skin and breastfeeding afterwards. A matching dressing gown and supportive sleep bra are also a great idea to pack.

Helen Skelton on Seraphine Maternity Clothes – “It’s a Whole New World!”

She lives in Cheshire with her rugby player husband Richie Myler & their dog Barney (also a former Blue Peter star), and the couple are expecting their first baby in June. Helen shares how discovering Seraphine drastically altered her ideas on maternity clothes.

I swore off maternity wear until I found Seraphine. “Beautiful” and “Natural” pregnancy may well be, but sexy it is not. When I found out I was pregnant, with my hips, boobs and bump expanding by the day and constantly needing a wee I told my husband I would NOT be wearing any maternity gear! “Why?” I asked him “would I want to wear granny bras and huge rib tickling trousers when I feel this unattractive already! That’s only going to make me feel worse!?”

Then I caught sight of myself in a shop mirror, my baby bump spilling over the top of my unfastened jeans, my boobs bursting out of my ill fitting bra and my blouse straining over my bust. Not only does this look awful, I felt awful. I spend hours in a car or on a train most days and when you constantly need a wee, tight fitting waistbands aren’t the best.

I buckled. I gave into my husband’s nagging and my mum’s “I know best” tone and ordered one pair of Seraphine “over the bump light wash skinny maternity jeans.” I can honestly say it’s a whole new world! They are comfy, they look like normal jeans, I can show off my bump by pairing them with a tight stretchy tee shirt without feeling disproportionately huge. Since then I’ve bought three more pairs in different colours and fabrics. I’ve gone for over the bump each time.

Admittedly tops and jumpers are still a bit trial and error, I like things that are fitted enough to show my bump but not too tight to look spray on. My favourite Seraphine jumper is the oatmeal woven back nursing jumper. My friends literally gawped when I said that was a “nursing” jumper. They expected me to say it was from “Sandro” or some other designer store. I joked for about twenty minutes that it came with a breast pump. (It doesn’t).

Of course I was convinced at first I could pour my curves into stretchy evening gowns for do’s and weddings! However I spent an entire evening recently re adjusting my bra to keep my chest in check. There just simply isn’t enough material in a normal evening gown to cover my “double ee” chest at the minute. So I tried on Seraphine’s “lace detail wrap maternity gown” for an awards do recently and I honestly felt amazing. Proud of my bump, confident I wasn’t going to burst out of it and glam.

As I have told my husband so many times, for me, clothes aren’t about looking good to other people, they’re about feeling good. Now I have abandoned my prejudice against maternity clothes I am actually comfortable and therefore confident. Priceless when you’re pregnant.

Behind the Seams at Seraphine: A Sneak Peak at Our Design Process

Here at Seraphine, all of our maternity clothes are designed in-house at our London studio. Our talented team of designers and tailors see the entire process through from start to finish, ensuring care & attention at every stage.

This week we are offering you a sneaky look behind the seams at the Seraphine design process!

It all starts with a beautiful idea, captured on paper. At this stage of the process, our designers put pencil to paper and visualise the maternity garments they want to create, from fabrics and fit, right down to the most delicate detailing.

When creating new designs for our LUXE Collection, we work with the finest silks and lace. It’s at this stage that the designers start to develop the design from a two dimensional drawing, into an actual garment that moves, drapes and flows. This is the time when the designers get to have fun with the fabrics, experimenting with the pattern to achieve a perfectly flattering drape.

Once the designers are happy with the drape and the pattern, they’ll make a mock-up also known as a toile, to see how it all translates into an actual garment. This is a really exciting stage, as the maternity dress begins to take shape.

Now the mocked up maternity gown is ready to be tried on for the first time! It’s at this stage that we bring in fit models to see how the dress works on a real pregnant woman. The designers look to see how the garment fits, drapes & moves, and ask for feedback from the model; then make any necessary amendments to the pattern.

A real labour of love; the finished garment goes into production and is ready to be worn! A beautiful option for your next glamorous occasion, direct from the Seraphine design team, to you.
