Seraphine’s 2015 Maternity Fashion Highlights

Happy New Year Mamas! As we look forward to the new adventures that 2016 has to offer, now seems like the perfect time to review what has been another remarkable year in maternity fashion at Seraphine.

2015 was truly the year to see and be seen in Seraphine. Top models Coco Rocha and Karolina Kurkova were firm Seraphine fans – Coco looked stunning in our stylish dresses for pregnancy and Karolina loved our White Cropped Maternity Jeans. Singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor wore several Seraphine maternity dresses, and mezzo soprano Katherine Jenkins relied on Seraphine LUXE maternity evening gowns for live performances, while stylistas Tamsin Egerton and Jaime King were both spotted in Seraphine maternity styles. We dressed Hollywood royalty: Isla Fisher and Fearne Cotton both fell for our Ripped Skinny Maternity Jeans, and Zooey Deschanel rocked one of our chic nursing dresses to debut her baby daughter Elsie.

We were also honoured to dress members of the royal family, both at home and abroad; Swedish Princesses, Victoria and Madeleine both commissioned bespoke Seraphine pieces. While The Duchess of Cambridge stepped out in several Seraphine styles while expecting Princess Charlotte, including the Marina Maternity Coat, the Natasha Cashmere Blend Maternity Coat, The Vanessa Roll Neck Maternity Dress and the Florrie Floral Print Maternity Dress.

This year, we were honoured to win The Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2015, in recognition of outstanding achievements in international trade. Seraphine Founder, Cécile Reinaud was invited to Buckingham Palace to meet the Queen and to receive the prestigious award in person. We were also named the ones to watch on Richard Branson’s Sunday Times Fast Track 100 list.

This year we opened a new maternity store in the historic Victoria Quarter in Leeds. Our Flagship London Store re-located to a glamorous new space on Kensington High Street, with a star-studded launch party to celebrate. And we opened our second New York maternity boutique on Madison Avenue.

This year we re-kindled our relationship with Tommy’s the baby charity by launching a nationwide charity T-shirt campaign. Singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor spearheaded the campaign in the press, and profits from The Love Tee go to Tommy’s – helping them to set up the UK’s first medical research centre dedicated to preventing early miscarriage. In November, we were proud to launch The Diana Collection – a brand new range of baby wear, available exclusively at Seraphine, featuring the Princess Diana Pastel Tartan. We officially launched the collection at the Global Gift Gala charity auction, attended by a slew of A-listers including Eva Longoria and Victoria Beckham. 12% of the price of each piece in the Diana Collection goes to The Diana Award – a charity set up in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales.

New Year’s Resolutions for Mums: Super Foods & Maternity Fashion

Making New Year’s Resolutions can be the perfect opportunity to shake things up, and blow away the cobwebs of last year’s routine. With a baby on the way, this year’s list is bound to look a little different – after all, you’ve already cut out alcohol and you certainly won’t be wanting to lose any weight! So what are the best New Year’s Resolutions for mums? Whether it’s keeping fit, making sure you get your full 5 a day, or even just prioritising your beauty sleep, here are a few of our favourites…

A little gentle exercise is a great way to boost your mood and keep fit through pregnancy. Staying active through your trimesters can help to ease labour and can even make slimming down after baby a little easier. We’ve turned to a few of our favourite celebrity mums & mums-to-be for a little inspiration and motivation for getting moving through your nine months.

When it comes to the healthiest foods to eat through pregnancy, getting the right vitamins and minerals becomes a top priority. Folate, fibre and iron are the holy trinity of pregnancy minerals, but there’s a whole host of other vitamins to consider too! Working healthy eating into your New Year’s Resolutions List is a great idea; here are 5 of the more unexpected pregnancy super foods…

 

1) Figs – fibre, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, vitamin K

Just 1 serving of figs contains a whopping 5 grams of fibre and a quarter of your daily calcium requirement – not to mention all the other wonderful nutrients that come along with it! Try keeping fresh juicy figs in the fruit bowl or add some dried figs into a bag of trail mix.

 

2) Chives – folate, iron, fibre, vitamin C, vitamin B6, calcium, magnesium

Folate is the most important nutrient for your baby’s development – especially in the first trimester. Mix a handful of fresh chopped chives into soups or dips, or sprinkle on top of salads or creamy mashed potatoes for an instant vitamin boost.

3) Leeks – folate, vitamin B6, calcium, vitamin K, iron

Leeks are the vegetable equivalent of a turbo-charged multi-vitamin power up. They are a fantastic non-dairy source of calcium – essential for baby’s healthy bone development, and one serving contains almost 60 micrograms of folate. These unassuming veggies are perfect in stews – throw in some shitake mushrooms and fresh chopped ginger for the ultimate morning sickness buster.

 

4) Fresh Basil – protein, vitamin E, riboflavin, iron, calcium, folate

Fresh basil is jam-packed with iron to keep your energy levels up, calcium for strong bones and teeth, and that all important folate to help with baby’s healthy development. So it’s a good thing that this aromatic herb is so darn delicious! Why not treat yourself to a fresh Caprese salad; alternating slices of ripe tomato, creamy buffalo mozzarella and fresh whole basil leaves, topping off with a healthy glug of olive oil and just a sprinkling of sea salt.

 

5) Molasses – magnesium manganese, vitamin B6, potassium

Magnesium found in sweet, sticky molasses (or black treacle) is essential for baby’s healthy bone development, and getting the proper amount of vitamin B6 and potassium may help to balance out your water retention, hopefully shrinking down those swollen ankles! Try stirring a spoonful of molasses into oatmeal or ginger tea as a vitamin-rich sweetener.

Anne Hathaway & Other Celebs Love Seraphine Maternity Coats

Hollywood A-lister Anne Hathaway seems to be sticking to her style and taking pregnancy in her stride. She looked simply radiant this weekend in one of our wool and cashmere maternity coats!

The star wrapped up her blossoming bump in our chic Two Tone Wool & Cashmere Maternity Coat, and couldn’t stop smiling as she stepped out for a casual New York lunch date with husband Adam Schulman. She styled the look with skinny jeans, black patent loafers, aviator sunglasses and a cool cross-body bag.

 

 

Of course Anne isn’t the only A-lister to love Seraphine maternity coats: Latina diva Shakira and top tennis WAG Kim Murray have both worn our Black Wool & Cashmere Maternity Coat and super model Coco Rocha wore our Black Maternity Down Jacket to bring baby Ioni home from the hospital. The Duchess of Cambridge is another high profile Seraphine fan, and wore several of our maternity coats while expecting Princess Charlotte. Since announcing her pregnancy earlier this autumn, Anne has never looked happier, and is proving quite a Seraphine fan! Princess Victoria Greets Nobel Prize Winners in a Seraphine Maternity Dress

This week we were delighted to dress Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden. The Princess looked stunning in Seraphine as she joined her father, the King of Sweden, to welcome the Nobel Peace Prize Winners to the Royal Palace in Stockholm.

The Princess looked immaculate in our Sophia Navy Pleated Maternity Dress for the official royal occasion. She wore her long hair tied back, and styled the look with blue heels, a matching clutch and a pair of stylish drop earrings.

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden Loves Seraphine Maternity Dresses

This week Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden looked stunning in one of our chic autumn/ winter maternity dresses!

On Wednesday, the Crown Princess chose our Bubble Print Maternity Dress for a full day of royal duties at home in Sweden. This included a visit to a museum, meeting and greeting students at the University of Karlstad, visiting a hospital, and a home for orphaned refugee children.

This stylish maternity dress was a fabulous choice; the flattering mock-wrap style is made in soft stretch jersey for a comfortable fit, and the print is understated yet on trend. Tamsin Egerton Rocks our Maternity Jeans on a date with Josh Hartnett

Stunning British actress, model and socialite Tamsin Egerton was spotted rocking a pair of Seraphine maternity jeans this week, out on a date with her baby daddy Josh Hartnett!

 

The outrageously attractive couple were part of a select group to enjoy a private viewing before the grand opening of the Frieze Art Fair in London, and Tamsin rocked it in a pair of our Premium Under Bump Maternity Jeans. Surrounded by some of the world’s most cutting edge contemporary art, Tamsin and Josh mingled with the movers and the shakers of the art world including royal and fellow art lover Princess Eugenie.

The stars were out in full force at Cindy Crawford’s Miami book launch this week, and stunning super model Karolina Kurkova looked ultra-chic in a pair of bright white Seraphine maternity jeans.

Celebrating the launch of her friend’s new memoir Becoming, Karolina cut a stunning figure in our cropped white maternity jeans. She put together a chic monochrome look with a matching white top, a contemporary statement blazer and a pair of cool blue and white brogues, accessorising with a pair of gorgeous drop earrings.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor has done it again! A firm fan of Seraphine, this week Sophie posted some stunning pics to Instagram, having fun at Madame Tussauds rocking one of our stylish maternity dresses.

Sophie chose our Circle Print Maternity Dress to film her brand new documentary, getting up close and personal with the waxworks at Madame Tussauds! The UKTV documentary about celebrities and social media looks to be a lot of fun – she posted a selfie with YouTube sensation Zoella, laughed with President Obama and even tweaked Madonna’s infamous Vogue bra!

 

 

And earlier in the week she was spotted wearing the same dress, posing with a Baymax balloon at a Big Hero 6 themed birthday party. It is definitely her under there (we promise!) and, novelty balloon aside, the dress & Black Knitted Maternity Cape combo looked ultra-chic!
